One of the best things about the FREE Tuesday run club is access to people in the know. Race director Jason Crowther is there, Atlas Multisports coaching staff are available and experienced runners and locals are available to give tips and advice on how to prepare for race day.
This week’s best FAQ was about race day nutrition and how to make sure you don’t run out of fuel during the marathon. Here’s what event director and qualified running coach Jason Crowther suggests runners do to avoid running out of steam on race day:
“The best piece of advice is to practice your race day nutrition every time you head out for a long run. Everyone responds differently to food intake and it’s a matter of trial and error to find out what suits you best. There is not a one size fits all model for fuelling however it’s essential you fuel frequently to maintain energy. Work with fast absorbing carbohydrates that are easy to digest and carry, and drink a mix of water and electrolytes regularly to stay hydrated.”
