Australian distance runners will once again be offered a $25,000 carrot if they break the country’s long held half marathon record at the 7 Sunshine Coast Half Marathon on August 4. The flat and fast beachfront course coupled with cool to moderate winter temperatures makes it an ideal combination for Aussie athletes to have a crack at the men’s or women’s record.
Athletics Australia officials will be on hand for the race and the $25,000 incentive is available to the first Australian male to break 61.11 and first Australian female to break 69mins.
