"Dare to Double" on Sunday August 25, 2013

The 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon & Community Run Festival aims to bring together 10,000 runners of all ages and abilities on Sunday August 25 in a celebration of fun, health and community awareness.
The festival celebrates its second year in 2013 and plans to not only double the number of competitors but also the funds contributed to several worthy community groups including the event's major beneficiary Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Choose from 2km, 5km, 10km, half or full marathon distances and enjoy the spectacular flat, fast and scenic course that along side some of the Sunshine Coast's best beaches. Runners can also choose to support one of 700 charities through an Everyday Hero account. In 2012 Sunshine Coast athletes helped raise $150,000 for worthwhile causes with twice as much expected in 2013.
Known for its great atmosphere and stunning winter weather, the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon multi-loop course provides heaps of great spectator spots and race day activities including markets for the whole family to enjoy.

The 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon & Community Run Festival is proud to be raising much-needed funds and awareness for seriously ill children and their family who use the facilities Ronald McDonald House Charities provide.
The Westpac Foundation provides grants and funding to not-for-profit groups who support disadvantaged Australians. Among those who benefit from the Westpac Foundation are the long-term unemployed, Indigenous Australians, refugees, the homeless, and individuals with a disability, feel engaged and included.

Course maps released
Course maps for the full, half, 10km, 5km and 2km events are now available online. The course remains largely the same as 2012. Minor changes have been made to the half and full course with the fiddly little turns in the back streets of Maroochydore replaced with an extension along the waterfront on Picnic Point Parade. Full and half marathon distances capped
The number of athletes in the full and half marathon distances at the Sunshine Coast Marathon will be capped at 1000 and 2500 respectively to ensure maximum safety and enjoyment for all competitors. With that in mind the two distances are on track to sell out. We'll continue to update runners on the status of both events as it progresses.
Half marathon training programs released
Whether you run, jog or walk the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon there's a free training program designed to help you achieve your goal. Following a program not helps motivate and keep you on track but is a great way to see real results. Full and half marathon programs are available online to all participants with beginner, intermediate and advanced options available. Early bird prices end MAY 31
