Run for a reason in 2015
After just three years, the annual 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon has established itself as one of Australia's most loved running festivals. Set on the idyllic Sunshine Coast, this internationally recognised road race is back on Sunday August 30 2015 with super early bird entries opening Wednesday February 4.
With an anticipated 8000 participants expected to take part in one of the five events - the Channel 7 Marathon, McDonalds Half Marathon, Westpac 10km, Love & Partners 5km and the Queensland Government 2km – the festival will be a celebration of health, fitness and participation.
As a member of the Association of International Marathons & Road Races (AIMS), the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon will again deliver a flat, fast and scenic course that accommodates runners of all abilities and a race atmosphere that supports your personal challenge whatever that may be.
Hosting elite international athletes chasing down prize money, age groupers looking for an elusive PB, first time marathoners nervous about making the distance and community teams who are passionate about their cause, you can join them and achieve your running goals with the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon.
In addition to being a world-class running event, 100% of event profits go to organisations such as Ronald McDonald House Charities and The Westpac Foundation plus more than 70 worthwhile causes chosen by YOU the runner. Since its inception, the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon has returned more than $500,000 in funds for charities and local community groups and we hope that this year is the most rewarding one yet - for both runners and charities.
See what others are saying about the event on our Facebook page and remember; you don't finish 100% of the races you don't enter.
The 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon is proud to be raising much-needed funds and awareness for seriously ill children and their families who use the facilities Ronald McDonald House Charities provide. In 2014, more than 2500 South East Queensland families used a Ronald McDonald house facility for an overnight stay. On top of that over 600 families were turned away from facilities due to a lack of space. Every runner in the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon will make a difference to help more families stay together in difficult times.
The 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon is dedicated to benefitting the community, values shared by the Westpac Foundation. At the Westpac Foundation, our vision is of a future where every Australian has the best possible chance to succeed in life. With a heritage dating back 130 years, we invest in enterprises taking a fresh approach to addressing social problems, borrowing the best from business to create more opportunity for Australia’s most disadvantaged. We are delighted to be welcoming back Kenya's Andrew Kimanthi to the Marathon again this year!! With a previous time of 2 hours 20 minutes to beat, it will be an exciting race if you are either running with him or watching on from the sidelines!
